About The Toronto Uterine Fibroids and Endometriosis Group

This group was formed out of a need. These are the alarming statistics:

  • About 20-25% of all women have fibroids, and they are very common in women over 30.
  • Women over the age of 35 have between a 20 and 40 % chance of having fibroids.

Black women are 3 times likelier than other women to have fibroids.

Fibroids are more common in women who are significantly overweight and in women who have never had children.

Fibroids are more common in women towards the end of their reproductive years, and they often shrink after menopause.

  • It is estimated that endometriosis affects between 10 and 15 percent of all women of reproductive age.

While these are two separate diagnoses, they are both intimately related. They are also related to these conditions:

    • Breast cancer
    • Infertility
    • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
    • Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)
    • Autoimmune disorders (ie. Lupus)

The goal of this group is to discover educate women on what the cause of endometriosis and uterine fibroids is, and discover non-surgical treatment options for healing them naturally.
